    A Certified Nursing Assistant is the bright shining face that enters a patient’s room to do everything they can within their scope of practice to ensure that their patient is safe and getting the highest quality care here at Salem Health! Our CNA’s are compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental individuals that sincerely care for our patients. As a CNA, you can truly make a difference in your patient’s day!

    A typical work day of a CNA may include:

    • Accurately performs skills per policy and procedure. Completes only those skills duties for which competency has been demonstrated basic and advanced skills checklists.
    • Observes and reports any patient condition changes to the Primary Nurse such as: abnormal vital signs, abnormal responses to care, change in patient behavior, functional status, patient complaints, changes in skin integrity, falls, etc.
    • Completes personal care on each patient as assigned or directed by plan of care, including policies and procedures, without continual direct supervision.
    • Documents pertinent patient information concisely and legibly using acceptable medical terminology and abbreviation on all assigned patients.
    • Assumes additional clerical responsibilities as department needs dictate.

    This job posting will be used to hire full-time CNAs for multiple units for day or night shifts.

    Open positions may include the following units:

    Adult Health Services

    • General Surgery
    • Medical Surgical Oncology
    • Orthopedics
    • Medical Telemetry Unit
    • Medical Surgical Unit
    • Medical Unit
    • Float Pool (Nursing Resources) 

    Critical Care

    • IMCU (Intermediate Care Unit)
    • ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
    • CVCU (Cardiovascular Care Unit)
    • NTCU (Neuro Trauma Care Unit)*Psychiatric Services, Inpatient Rehabilitation Services and Women’s & Children’s Services will have their own position postings.

    You may be an ideal fit if you:

    • Currently certified in the State of Oregon to practice as a CNA.
    • Certified as an Acute Care CNA2 in the State of Oregon (If not certified as an Acute Care CNA2 at date of hire, must immediately enroll in Salem Health’s CNA2 training. Must obtain CNA2 at the end of this training or employment with Salem Health may result in separation.)
    • Have a current Basic Life Support BLS Provider card from the American Heart Association.
    • Recent experience in an acute care setting.
    • Well-developed computer skills and ability to lean additional programs with minimal training.
    • Ability to work tactfully and effectively with physicians, nurses and other hospital employees.
