The POC & Safety Coordinator is responsible for the Point of Care testing functions throughout the facility, as well as Laboratory Safety Programs. POCT related activities include the oversight of device selection, regulatory compliance, quality control and proficiency testing, assisting with the training of non-laboratory personnel in conjunction with the Education Department, connectivity development, liaison with nursing staff and the POCT committee, and the oversight of Clinical Services personnel performing POCT. Safety Officer responsibilities include overall accountability for staff education and compliance with all safety related polices. In conjunction with laboratory leadership, insuring a safe working environment for lab employees.
