    As our Clinic Nurse, you will be responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide safe, quality family centered health care which recognizes, focuses on and adapts to both the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient obstetrically and gynecologically. Must possess a broad range of skills including current working knowledge of computer, medical terminology, communication, clinical practice and critical thinking. Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians in a positive, caring manner.  Must be flexible, self-motivated and willing to accept a variety of assignments as assigned.

    Our shared-clinic space, located on the Salem Health campus, includes the Nurse Midwives Clinic and the OB/GYN Clinic. These fast-paced women’s clinics jointly average 180 patients per day and 120 phone calls/day, specializing in women’s exams, prenatal care, high risk pregnancy, and in clinic procedures. Our team of 28 staff, including physicians/nurse practitioners, direct care staff, and administrative professionals do an amazing job of delivering top-rated care.


    Core Functions:

    •  Performs an accurate, ongoing, pertinent assessment for each assigned patient. Reports pertinent data to other health team members and implements appropriate action.
    • Sets priorities and organizes daily activities utilizing time effectively.
    • Demonstrates competency in delivery of care based on the patient care plan. Performs nursing skills following Salem Hospital policies and procedures utilizing appropriate resources and demonstrates age-specific behaviors when caring for patients.
    • Demonstrates ability to prioritize care based on patients’ current needs. (i.e. focused assessments and other timely interventions to promote optimum patient outcomes and prevent adverse effects.)
    • Demonstrates ability to intervene appropriately in emergency situations. Proactive in preventing adverse outcomes.
    • Consistently documents the assessment, planning, interventions and patient responses in a way that accurately reflects the patient’s care and progress.
    • Assumes the charge nurse role in an effective manner.
    • Supervises and directs care given by others. Assures care delivery consistent with standards of practice.
    • Utilizes appropriate problem solving as issues occur throughout the shift (staff, patient/family concerns, physicians, etc.)
    • Seeks opportunities as able to participate in specific clinic operations (i.e. daily clinic maintenance, quality assurance activities, etc.)
    • Identifies clinic problems and participates in solutions.
    • Participates in the educational process by precepting students and orientees effectively and contributing to their learning experience.
    • Assists in maintaining a safe clinic environment for patients, staff and self(i.e. replacing SHARP’s containers, following infection control policies, taking broken equipment out of service, using proper lifting and transfer techniques, keeping hallways free of clutter/spills, etc.



    • Requires BSN or non-nursing Bachelor’s Degree with MSN for all external applicants for Salem Hospital, preferred for West Valley Hospital. Bachelor of Arts in nursing also accepted. 
    • For internal applicants preference may be given to applicant with BSN.
    • Minimum of one (1) year of Clinical Nurse experience required.
    • Previous clinical Women’s Health nursing experience required. One (1) year minimum.
    • Current unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
    • BLS issued by the American Heart Association required.
