    Neuro Trauma Care nurses provide care for patients who suffer from a wide variety of brain or nervous system disorders such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, brain tumors, traumatic brain injuries, meningitis, encephalitis, strokes, and spinal injuries.

    Also, surgical patients needing intermediate level of care post-operative, Sepsis, COPD, BIPAP, and traumas. NTCU staff are specially trained in NIHS, swallow screen and spine immobilization.

    NTCU sets the Gold Standard in accreditation with SPINE CENTER OF EXCELLENCE and has been awarded Top 10 in Patient Satisfaction numerously. NTCU staff are engaged in Kaizen lean methodology projects, on various committees including Specialty Practice for NTCU, evidence based practice, informatics, professional growth, magnet, diabetes, falls, sepsis, and geriatric to name a few. RN’s additionally have the opportunity to advance their certifications in CNRN, SCRN, and PCCN. Staff are highly respected and valued members who support a strong teamwork environment. Ratio’s for RN’s vary 3:1 to 4:1 pending patient intensities.

    Neuroscience Nurses perform many of the following typical procedures:

    • Support patients recovery in behavioural, physical, and cognitive abilities
    • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for various procedures
    • Exhibit a high level of patience and sensitivity, as not all patients are able to exhibit normal mental functions
    • Keep medical records up to date for all patients
    • Monitor patients’ neurological activity
    • Administer various medications including drips and tests
    • Assist physicians with procedures, and inform them about patient’s conditions
    • Ensure patients’ families are kept up to speed with patient’s status and progress

    What you'll need:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science degree.
    • Current and unrestricted Oregon license.
    • Minimum of one (1) year experience required.
    • BLS issued by the American Heart Association required.
