Salem Health does more than provide high quality patient care. It is an organization that commits itself to empowering teams to create, innovate, and dream. We are looking for individuals who can challenge the status quo, raise the bar, and embrace change.

At Salem Health, we want trailblazers, self-starters, and creative thinkers to drive improvement in the health care arena where “patient-centered” is more than just words.

Support Salem Health’s vision of being a top-performing leader by ensuring that charges and charging processes are supported by clinical documentation.  This will be accomplished by reviewing patient accounts to ensure accurate charging practices, providing timely communication to clinical departments regarding the potential for additional reimbursement and trending of late or missed charges.  This position will act as a liaison between clinical departments, HIM and Patient Financial Services to reduce write-offs and improve revenue.

    Core Functions

    • Compares clinical and financial records to identify if documentation supports charges, monitors late charges and identifies missed charges.
    • Presents corrected information to Patient Financial Services or department(s) involved.
    • Communicates with clinical departments regarding reimbursement trends, potential for additional reimbursement and documentation requirements.
    • Represents the hospital in giving estimates of hospital services to requesting patients, physicians or payers upon request.
    • Works collaboratively with Revenue Integrity Team when new charges are being added to ensure ChargeMaster coding accurately reflects clinical services.
    • Provides support to Patient Financial Services staff when patients have questions regarding charges associated with services.
    • Works with insurance payers and departments when audits are requested.

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
    • Minimum of four (4) years clinical, direct patient care experience required OR two (2) years clinical, direct patient care AND two (2) years patient financial services experience required.
    • Licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Oregon State Board of Nursing required.
    • Understanding and knowledge of third party payers and insurance programs required.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with department managers, employees, patients and external auditors.
    • Ability to maintain performance in a stressful environment.
    • Ability to prioritize activities and manage detail.

As a leader in the local industry, Salem Health offers a generous total rewards package, an empowering culture, and a commitment to the development and growth of our in-house talent. Our work is grounded in respect for people and continuous improvement and we invite you to partner with us to further our mission.
