    As a Medical Assistant with our Family Medicine Support Team you will be required to utilize your excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation and critical thinking abilities to identify the nature and urgency of our patient’s healthcare needs. By providing safe, appropriate and timely communication of patient symptoms, messages or questions via telephone and My Chart, you play an instrumental role in assisting with making a determination of patient disposition. 


    Core Functions

    • Conduct telephone interviews with patients to ascertain medical concerns, reason for call and medical status. Using this information, determines an appropriate course of action consistent with the physician’s plan of care and established protocols.
    • Communicate patient concerns to the provider and receive instructions on next steps as indicated by clinic protocols.
    • Consistently utilize good communication skills, able to form instant rapport with callers, emphasizes customer service
    • Work directly with other clinic support staff (e.g. other LPNs, Medical Assistants and Medical Office Assistants) to coordinate and support the delivery patient care in the clinic setting.
    • Communicate with patients to convey recommendations, advice and/or treatment options as instructed by the physician and/or consistent with established protocols.
    • Anticipate needs and shares information with other team members and maintains open communication with all members of the Care Team
    • Work effectively with culturally diverse populations, educationally diverse and illiterate populations
    • Treat team members with respect, is approachable, and encourages ongoing training/education efforts
    • Perform accurate, ongoing, pertinent collection of patient care data including, but not limited to, problem history, medications, allergies, health maintenance, pain status, health history. Such data is collected over the phone and in person. 
    • Able to use standard documentation tool or template as instructed


    • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assisting Program
    • Minimum of two (2) years of primary care experience required
    • National Certification from NCCT, AMT, or AAMA
    • American Heart BLS Certification within 90 days of hire
    • Ability to form positive, collaborative relationships with medical staff, patients, families
    • Ability to communicate, both written and verbal, constructively
    • Computer skills related to equipment and software used in the department.
    • Ability to work alongside or in conjunction with interpretive services.
