    Description/Qualifications

    Access Services Registrars are the face of Salem Health! As a Registrar you provide superior customer service by courteously admitting and/or registering all patients here for treatment.  We have Registrars in nearly every building and clinic of the Salem Health organization.  You may be the first person that our patient, their family and their friends see that day so your bright smile and cheerful face is exactly what we need!

     

    What do our Registrars do in a typical day? While you are either admitting or registering a patient, you will need to:

    • Obtain accurate demographic, guarantor, and financial information; assigns the correct medical record and account number providing a database which assures accurate billing and clinical information.
    • Obtain appropriate authorizations and referrals according to payer requirements.
    • Obtain appropriate signatures on all admitting forms as required to assure reimbursement and consent for treatment. Secures appropriate portion of patient financial responsibilities at Point of Service
    • Verifies insurance eligibility, utilizing HDX & other online carrier resources.
    • Uses the overhead paging system for lobby registrations.

    If you are a Registrar, you can demonstrate the following:

    • High standards of accuracy and exceptional judgment that exceeds the expectations of patients, visitors, physicians, and Salem/West Valley Hospital employees.
    • Computer literacy and a fast typing speed with a high level of accuracy is essential.

    You may be an ideal fit if you:

    • Have one (1) year experience in a fast-paced customer service environment utilizing excellent data entry and keyboard skills.
    • Have the ability to accurately type a minimum of 40 wpm.
    • Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.
    • Understand the principles of teamwork.
    • Have the talent to handle multiple priorities and concerns while working in a busy, multidisciplinary setting.
    • Can report to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability, reliability and punctuality.
    • Can have a positive interaction with the public, physicians and other employees so guest relations are maximized and the hospital mission and vision is achieved.
    • Are able to communicate with patients of all ages, backgrounds and needs, showing empathy and kindness in all interactions with patients and visitors.
